Summary

This position is responsible for servicing customer accounts by handling a combination of sales and design functions.  The primary responsibilities of the Estimating/ Sales Support position include providing estimates/ layouts to customers, supporting Outside Sales Representatives with requests and assisting the Design Department.  This position requires knowledge of building materials and the building process, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Reports to: This position reports to the Sales Manager

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:00am-5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch

Essential Functions of the Job: (Include but not limited to the following)

  • Provides layouts/quotes on all assigned jobs in a timely manner and according to the plan and quote specifications
  • Takes initiative to solve design/ engineering problems through efficient troubleshooting, effective plan reading, and by communicating any issues and/or concerns to the appropriate people while documenting the solution/s
  • Provide design departments with clear, precise and accurate information
  • Assist design department with collection of any additional information pertaining to an estimate or order
  • Follow up with customer quotes and maintain detailed records and reports of related information on a job-to-job basis
  • Follow pre-determined sales cycle, procedures and policies
  • Meet or exceed sales volume/ profit goals
  • Consistently demonstrates an effort to maintain an efficient and organized working environment
  • Provides efficient, accurate and economical resolutions to customer requests/complaints
  • Effectively communicates with other team members as necessary (Sales Manager, design colleagues, salespeople, management, manufacturing, and shipping personnel, etc.)
  • Meets with job site supervisors to resolve design/ engineering issues as they arise, may be required to travel to job sites on occasion
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance in accordance with work schedule

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years minimum experience in building material sales and/or other related experience
  • General knowledge of construction industry
  • Knowledge of wood frame construction and roof & floor truss systems
  • Ability to read architectural plans and blueprints
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize time and work efficiently
  • Ability to anticipate problems and resolve them before they become problems for our customer
  • Knowledge of current local codes associated with truss design (TPI)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with architects, engineers, customers and team members both orally and in writing.
  • Fluid in mathematic calculations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management/ advisors.
  • Dependability

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The Associate frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment:
Work will be completed in an office environment and may include travel to job-sites on occasion.
