Job Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects of accounting and the accounting department including day-to-day operations, general ledger accounting, cost accounting, purchasing controls, and software utilization. Other duties include but are not limited to assisting in payroll, inventory, A/P, A/R, budgeting, and other duties required by Select Trusses & Lumber, Inc.

Reports to: This position reports to the General Manager
Supervisory Responsibility:
The Accounting Manager manages all Payroll, A/P, A/R and Inventory/ Data Entry positions.
Essential Functions of the Job: (Include but not limited to the following)
- General Ledger
- Prepare and enter journal entries to record transactions accurately.
- Verify account balances and activity for accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze supporting work papers for general ledger accounts.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Maintain integrity of general ledger with source modules (A/P, A/R, Inventory, Payroll & Other).
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger with job cost module by reconciling all job related general ledger accounts with job cost records.
- Maintain appropriate balances in checking accounts to minimize costs.
- Prepare documentation in accordance with borrowing agreements.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for deposit accounts.
- Cost Accounting
- Monitor cost and product pricing to maintain profitability with comparisons.
- Review job performance reports and verify accuracy and completeness.
- Distribute commission calculations and job performance reports to Sales Manager for approval.
- Purchasing
- Monitor cost and product pricing to maintain profitability.
- Review all purchases for appropriate issue and filing of tax exempt certificates for eligible purchases.
- Maintain two-tiered payment approval process.
- Review matched vendor invoices, purchase orders and receiving paperwork.
- Other
- Process insurance claims for P & C insurance.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of accounting software through regular maintenance, security settings, proper audit trials and other methods as necessary.
- Maintain office equipment contracts to ensure adequacy and functionality.
- Monitor and oversee the records retention policy.
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
- Preparation of annual budget with General Manager, Sales Manager and Design Manager.
- Train and prepare for A/P, A/R, material usage records and payroll backup.
- Prepare and make daily deposit.
- Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization.
- Maintain confidential data, which, if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect.
- Demonstrate good judgment and reasoning in investigation and solving problems.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with customers, supervisors and other company employees.
- Prioritize responsibilities and delegate tasks as necessary.
- Provide proper advance notification of absences.
- Other duties assigned by General Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 2+ years of related experience preferred
- Ability to prepare/analyze financial statements.
- Familiarity with computer database and its application to accounting functions.
- Ability to supervise and delegate tasks
- Ability to develop management information reports
- Fluid in mathematic calculations as they pertain to financial statements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management/advisors.
- Dependability; reliable mode of transportation
